A leading edge not-for-profit national travel Network committed to promoting Canada domestically and internationally as the best destination for year-round learning and enrichment vacations. Network initiatives include a business-to-business and consumer website, a member database, marketing, research, product and quality assurance development, communications, education and leadership.

What is learning & enrichment travel?

Learning and enrichment travel refers to vacations with authentic, hands-on or interactive learning experiences featuring themes such as adventure, agriculture, anthropology, archeology, arts, culture, cuisine, education, forestry, gardening, language, maritime, mining, nature, science, spirituality, sports, wine, and wildlife to name a few!

What is the What is the Canadian Experience Travel Network website?

The Network website is composed of four interdependent websites: a consumer and travel agent retail website, two business-to-business extranet sites for travel trade partners and media partners, and an intranet for Network members. Each website has its own unique target markets and user specific information.

The website is:

•A website which allows the user to discover experiences online by theme, destination or activity type.
•A ‘one-stop’ service for travel providers, travel trade, media, and the consumer to find experiential tourism products and services in Canada.
•Industry specific search engine and directory for in depth profiles on members and their experience offerings.
•Relational database management system.
•Online resource for industry information & education for members and partners.
•Networking and communication tool for members and partners.

How is the Canadian Experience Travel Network marketed?

Marketing activities vary according to each business sector and rely mostly on e-marketing, telemarketing and direct mail. The Network advertises through select publications, direct mail marketing, e-newsletters, press releases, reciprocal web links, trade shows, conferences, and partnerships with industry organizations.

There are three business sectors which the Alliance markets to:

In 2003, the Network launched a business-to-consumer website that is directly exclusively to the travel consumer.

How much does it cost to join?

Canadian Experience Travel Network Partners are representatives from the travel trade (primarly tour operators) and media who are interested in using the Network directory for their research, product development, finding new Canadian suppliers and destinations, and accessing helpful information. This is a free service to qualified media and travel trade personnel.

Network Members are those organizations that wish to promote their products, services or destinations to the travel trade, media and consumer. This is a paid for membership that allows members access to the intranet website network and corresponding online services as well as the ability to profile their services and experiences online to the travel trade, media and consumer. They also have links from the Network website to their own website. Tour Operator partners may use the website as a travel partner, however should they wish to showcase their own packages to travel agents and consumers, they must join the Network as a member.
